Happy New Years Eve! These days, I’m all about speaking things into existence. To keep the intro short and sweet, here’s a list of my top 2019 goals:
Travel
I definitely caught the travel bug this year and it’s truly been a blessing to see more of the world. In 2019 I hope to
- Finally visit Italy! I’ve wanted to travel here ever since I started taking Latin in the 6th grade (and took it for 6 years after that). Even though the language is long gone, I feel like I’ve learned enough about the city’s history through the language to want to visit. Rome and Florence are my top destinations.
- Travel to some new domestic cities. Believe it or not there are a ton of big U.S. cities that I have never been to. At the top of my list are LA, Chicago, and Houston (a.k.a. mini Nigeria).
- I want to add 3 stamps to my passport! I’ve already got one on the way since I’ll be heading to Jamaica on New Years Day. Ideally I’ll head to Rome in April, and I guess the last city is a wild card! Any suggestions?
Relationships
I bet you think I’m going to say it’s a goal of mine to be in a romantic relationship this year right? Well you’re wrong. God’s timing is best and I’m never going to make it a goal of mine to be with someone because I am whole on my own. But I do have goals for the relationships in my life in general and the type of people I want to keep around me.
- I want to be better at actively supporting my close friends but also other black women in general. A little support goes a long way and its a key part of healthy relationships.
- I hope to establish more relationships and connections with other women of color bloggers in the New York area. There’s definitely a network and support system that I haven’t tapped into. Whether there is a group that already exists or I’m leading the charge to start one, I definitely want to link up with other Black and Latina micro-influencers.
Faith
This one is a big one for me as it’s essentially the basis of my entire existence. I’ve made progress on some goals that I started in 2018. My primary 2018 goal to complete the one year bible (for the first time ever!) will be done by February 3rd! In addition to that, my main goal for 2019 is to:
- Pray more. Not just for myself but for others. For my family and friends. For the country and the world. For people who are suffering. I mean like genuine prayer, not a 5 minute generic and rehearsed prayer. Not the prayer when I need help or it’s convenient for me but the “through the good times and the bad I just want to talk to God” prayer. If you have any tips or devotionals that you think may help me reach this next step in my faith journey, let me know!
Career
A topic that gives me anxiety every now and then but my prayer goal should take care of that. In short, in 2019 it’s time for…
- …Me to go back to school. I’ve been working on this through the second half of 2018 so it’s really just time for everything to come to fruition. Although I’d love to, I’m not at a place where I want to give the full details of everything I’m working towards. Just keep me in prayer and hopefully I’ll have some exciting news in a few months!
Health
2018 was a big year for my personal fitness! It was the first year that I stayed consistent in the gym and saw results. Of course I want to still want to stay consistent in the gym but this year I want to level up by
- Picking up some weight! Believe it or not I pretty much only do cardio when I go to the gym. Cycling classes are my usual go to. I’ve been afraid to branch out of cardio because I have no idea what to do with the weights or how to use them. I need to pick up some weights with boldness and fearlessness!
Blog
I first started my blog in June and it’s been much more than I could have ever expected or imagined. I am grateful and at times simply speechless at all of the support and readers! Thanks so much for joining me on this journey! Obviously I hope to produce even more engaging and creative content in 2019. Other than that I hope to:
- …be bold! For some reason I felt weird promoting myself or calling myself a blogger. It felt as if I was being overly confident or conceited when I would talk about it in social settings. That’s not the case! I can promote myself and my brand, call myself a micro influencer, and connect with other bloggers and companies without being narcissistic. It’s my hope that I can embrace this journey with less fear and more boldness!
Final 2018 Thoughts!
2018 was quite the ride but I am grateful for every experience I had this year. This might seem like quite an ambitious list of goals but I’m always up for a challenge…and an accountability partner. If any of these goals seems like something you’re also willing to work on, comment below or contact me because we’re in this together! Thanks for reading my final blog post of 2018, I hope you have a safe and Happy New Year!
