Simple one shade eyeshadow looks have been growing on me lately. In the spirit of experimenting, I decided to try a smoky eye look for the first time this past weekend. The good news is it was much easier than I thought it would be and it wasn’t a messy process at all! Here are the full details on how I achieved an easy smoky eye look!
A Simple Process
First, I primed my lid with my usual go to: the NYX eyeshadow base in skin tone. This way I am able to even out the skin tone on my eyelid so I get the highest pigment payoff.
For this entire eye look I used all Morphe products starting with theĀ Jaclyn Hill Morphe PaletteĀ . I started off using the color “Central Park” in the brow bone/crease of my eyelid. This served as my transition shade so that the dark eyeshadow wouldn’t create a harsh cut off. To apply that shadow I used my Morphe M510 brush. I lightly blended this shade into the brow bone area– major emphasis on lightly as this was mean to blend into to my skin tone.
Then with a Morphe M433 brush, I blended the shade “Hunts” into my crease. It was the perfect reddish orange brick color that I was looking for to give a pop in my crease, behind the darker shadow that I’d use for the smoky effect. You can tell in the picture that theres more on my lid than just a dark shadow.
Finally for the main event, I packed the shade “Abyss” on to my lid using the Morphe M135. This brush is my absolute favorite for sweeping shadows on to the lid. The key part about this look is creating a flawless transition between the crease and the lid. For that, go back in with the M510 brush and lightly blend things out. If you felt like you blended it out too much, go back in with “Abyss”. You may have to play around with this part of the process to get a look that you are satisfied with. To add some glam I popped on the “Mykonos” lash from Lily Lashes. A dramatic lash will enhance the smoky effect and draw even more attention to your eyes.
That’s it! Creating a smoky eye is that simple and doesn’t take that much time if you have the right shades and the right brushes to help you achieve the look!
