Easy Way to Achieve a Glossy Lid Look

Eyeshadow is my favorite part of a makeup and when I stumbled across the glossy lid trend, I knew I had to try it out for myself eventually. When I tried eyeshadow from the Fenty “Beach, Please!” collection, I was hoping they’d leave a wet look on the lids. While those shadows were great, they left me slightly disappointed. Immediately  I was on a mission to make the glossy lid look happen.

Makeup experts and beauty bloggers share various techniques for achieving a glossy lid. Some suggest using vaseline or straight up lip gloss on the eyelid. Others share brands that created glosses specifically for the face and eyes. I decided to give it a try with Milk Face Gloss.

Technique

The process was really simple. To start, I packed on orange shadows from both the Urban Decay Electric Palette and the Morphe 3502 Palette. Then I used a Morphe G20 brush to dab a small amount of the face gloss onto my eyelid. Be sure to dab and not swipe! Otherwise you’ll just wipe away the eye shadow underneath. And that’s it! I added natural looking lashes to my look to finish it off. If you want to add lashes be careful with how you apply. Once again you don’t want to smudge or wipe away the shadow.

If you want to add that extra glow to your face you can gently dab the face gloss to your cheek bones. It gives off the look of a highlight by simply enhancing what’s already yours.

Review

Overall I am pretty happy with how the look turned out. The face gloss did exactly what I wanted it to do when it came to giving a wet, glossy look. There are some expected setbacks that come with the look. For one, the shadow starts to crease after a short amount of time which is expected. If you want to avoid visible creasing, opt for a natural look without eyeshadow underneath. If you add the face polish to your cheekbones for a highlight, there’s the drawback of stickiness on your face. There isn’t much you can do to avoid that and its also another expected flaw of the product. But otherwise, if you’ve been curious about the glossy eye trend, I say it’s definitely worth it to test out Milk Makeup Face Gloss!
