Show Your Friends Some Love: Galentine’s Day Gift Guide

It’s February, and love is in the air! While there are definitely conflicting feelings about Valentine’s Day (or Singles Awareness Day as some like to call it), you have to admit that love is a beautiful thing. Love not only for your spouse, partner or significant other, but also for family and friends. During my freshman year in college an upperclassman friend hosted myself and some friends for a Galentine’s Day celebration. I had no idea what that meant at the time, but when I showed up I enjoyed face masks, good vibes and my favorite…GIFTS.

I recently surprised a friend with a small gift in honor of the season and both the act of giving, and her reaction, inspired me to write this post. Spread love and random acts of kindness to your friends just to say you’re thinking of them. For me, as someone who has friends that are living in cities across the country, it feels nice to be able send love their way, especially because I don’t see them as often as I wish I could. Here’s a full list of some affordable Galentine’s gifts to send to your BFFs!

For The Friend Who Loves Makeup:Anything From The Sephora Checkout Aisle

If your friend loves makeup, she’ll love almost anything thats from Sephora. Of course, when you go into Sephora, you may be immediately scared away by their prices and that’s totally fair. Head over to the checkout aisle of store where they have all things travel and sample size. I definitely have my fair share of mini eyeshadow palettes or travel size perfumes that come in handy when I travel or just want to carry makeup on the go!

For The Friend Who Loves To Be Gassed In Public: Flowers or Treats Sent To Work

Ok let’s be very real. We all have that one friend that lowkey or maybe highkey loves to be loved publicly. Whether it’s PDA with their significant other or birthday shout outs on Instagram stories, they love the public affirmations.  Just give in to their extra-ness and gas them up by sending some flowers or cupcakes to their workplace. There’s really no way they’ll be able to hide it, but if we’re being honest, it’s not like they want to anyway.

For The Friend Who Loves Personal, Heartfelt Appreciation: Send A Handwritten Note and A Curated Playlist

Perfect if you’re on a budget. Also perfect if you live far away from your close friend. You can either create a card yourself or find the perfect hallmark one and write a note inside. If you have a little extra time and energy, create a playlist of songs and send it to them. The songs can be songs that your friend would love, songs that remind you of them, or songs that remind you of inside jokes and good times that you both have shared.

For The Bougie Friend Who Loves A Little Fun: A Nice Bottle of Champagne

If I’m being honest, this can probably work for any friend, bougie or not. I could add on a few sentences about why they would love this, but I think this is self explanatory.

For The Superwoman Friend Who Deserves To Treat Herself: Gift Card For A Mani Pedi

Everybody deserves to treat themselves. On top of that, I don’t think I know a person who would turn down the option to have their nails done on someone else’s dime. If you want to be even more specific to your friend specific preferences, find out what nail salon they normally go to and call ahead to get a gift certificate or just schedule the appointment and pay in advance. Keep in mind it may be tricky to schedule the appointment for your friend without just telling them what you plan on doing. You lose the element of surprise but its still super cute!

For The Friend Obsessed With Her #FitnessGoals: A Class Pass

Chances are you have a friend who is either already into working out or recently picked it up as a part of their 2019 New Year’s resolutions. There’s no better way to show you support them than by sponsoring a fitness class. There are so many fun and unique ways to workout these days so you’re options are truly endless.

Final Thoughts

This list definitely isn’t exhaustive but hopefully it got your gift giving juices flowing. The most important advice I’d give is to be attentive to your friends wants and needs. Maybe you’re friend is coming off of a breakup and needs a little extra love. Maybe you have a friend who has been super overwhelmed by work or family issues lately and could use a pick-me-up to get their mind off of it and remind them that they’re an amazing friend who is loved! A little goes a very long way.

Of course I can’t end without giving a shout out to some of my amazing friends who helped me come up with the ideas for this post. When I was in a creative slump, they came through. One of my friends, Laetitia, recently started her own blog and she’s already got some thought-provoking and meaningful posts up, so be sure to check it out here. Hope you enjoy your Galentine’s day with friends and Valentine’s Day with that special someone (even if it’s YOU!) Thanks for reading!
