My Ludlow Hotel Staycation Experience

Travel is still a risky activity to partake in. It’s really wild to think that 2019 was the last year that I stepped on a plane. Still I’ve been finding ways to see new cities. But there’s nothing wrong with getting to know my own. I decided to go to the Ludlow Hotel for a staycation last weekend and I’m sharing all about my experience.

Why I did a Ludlow Hotel Staycation

The Ludlow Hotel is like every Instagrammer’s dream because of its chic vintage style bathroom. So I was definitely drawn because of that. The prices were fairly reasonable, and the Lower East Side neighborhood was a great switch up from my Morningside Heights/Harlem apartment. Even though I was only a short Uber/subway ride away from home, it felt like a different city.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions

Of course, with any trip, it’s important to know the safety protocols that a hotel or airbnb is taken in light of COVID-19. Many of the hotels amenities, such as the restaurant, lounge, and fitness center, were understandably shut down. So if you come here, know that you’re pretty much only getting your bedroom. The hotel has a policy whereby rooms are unoccupied for 72 hours before the next guest arrives. Additionally, high-use items such as the remote and wine opener are sealed to indicate that no one has used it since it was last cleaned. I brought my own Clorox wipes to do my own wipe down, but overall I felt safe in the hotel environment and had little contact with other guests.

The Neighborhood

I briefly mentioned this earlier, but the hotel is located on the Lower East Side which usually has a lot going on. There are plenty of restaurants, some of which will deliver straight to your hotel door. I was most excited about the Sweet Chick which is right next door to the hotel entrance. On top of that there is a Whole Foods nearby should you need to do some grocery shopping for whatever reason. I actually stopped by there to pick up some props for my photos (strawberries and roses!)

The Room & Amenities

I decided to stay in a Queen Loft room, because it’s the cheapest room that had a bathtub (lol). Pay attention to the room descriptions because some rooms only have a shower, or a combined shower and tub, but this room keeps them separate. The bathrooms in all of the rooms are in a lovely vintage style. Each rooms also comes with two bathrobes for your use for the weekend. Other small details that I really enjoyed? Two pairs of slippers, an umbrella, and a complimentary espresso machine (I didn’t use it though). Overall the room is stunning. The bathroom isn’t as large as some photos on Instagram make it seem, and you might be able to get a sense of what I mean from the photo below and my YouTube video linked below!
