My Lip Gloss Is Poppin’: The Nude Glosses You Need To Have

Ask me to choose between lip gloss and lipstick and I’ll choose lip gloss any and every day. On top of that, I’ve never really been one to play around with lip color, so a nude lip gloss does the trick for me. Obviously, there is always the fear of nude lip glosses, or even lipsticks, not looking good on brown skin, at least not without a lip liner. All of these glosses I’m mentioning are ones that I never pair with a liner. I just swipe them on and go. Here’s a list of my tried and true nude lip glosses that you need to have in your collection.

NYX Butter Gloss “Fortune Cookie”

Ah, good ole NYX butter glosses. My first introduction to nude glosses. I stumbled upon it because I was looking for a gloss that was affordable (it’s only 5 dollars!) and great quality. I have used it for years and I can’t tell you how many time I have restocked this gloss in this particular shade. If you knew or ever saw me while I was a college student, there is a 99% chance this was the gloss I had on. There are plenty of shade options for this gloss in general. If you feel more comfortable pairing with a liner, NYX has plenty for you to choose from. It’s an added bonus that the gloss smells good too.

Fenty Gloss Bomb “Fenty Glow”

Ok so chances are you already own this gloss. That’s not going to stop me from ranting and raving about it. The applicator is amazing because it is wide and actually fills the width of my lips (hello full lips). The gloss smells amazing and there is so much product that comes with it. I have to be entirely honest here, as someone who also owns the gloss in the “fu$$y” shade, pick one or the other. There is virtually no difference in the shades if you have darker lips. I assume you’ll be able to note the differences when you use it as a topper rather than a stand alone gloss.

Buxom Full On Plumping Lip Cream “White Russian”

Honestly, I don’t know why this isn’t the first gloss on my list, but that is beside the point. I cannot sing the praises of this gloss enough. ENOUGH, DO YOU HEAR ME?! Every single time I use this gloss, I either get compliments or questions on what I have on my lips. Yes, priced at $20, it is on the more expensive end of the spectrum for a lip gloss. I promise you, just get one to see what I am talking about. It is in fact a lip plumping gloss, so what that means is when you apply the lip gloss you will feel a tingling sensation as it works to plump your lips. Before you think to yourself, “I don’t need that, my lips are full enough”, STOP. The gloss isn’t a full on Kylie Jenner lip challenge. It’s not going to do anything major, and I actually don’t notice a change in size of my lips at all. The gloss simply enhances what is already there. I own this gloss in other shade, but White Russian is the only one I have re bought and it’s the shade I keep coming back to.

ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip “Hypnotize”

ColourPop has been known for their amazing matte lipsticks for a while. In fact, that’s essentially what brought the brand to prominence. I still feel like a lot of people overlook their amazing lip glosses. I know I almost did. When I need an extra product to add to my cart in order to meet the free shipping requirement (we’ve all been there) I felt like testing out a simple gloss. “Hypnotize” is described as a “prismatic, peachy nude”. It’s got sparkles, which I love to dabble in every now and then. The brush applicator makes me feel like I can be really precise in how I apply it. This is also another gloss that works well as a topper too!

Final Thoughts

Although these are the specific shades that work for me, I can acknowledge that it’s all about preference when it comes to nude lip glosses. If you’re not too keen on the shades listed, all of the brands have multiple shade options. You can take this post as a recommendation for brands to check out for nude lip glosses. Trust me, you won’t go wrong!
