Top 5 Series: My Top Concealers!

Hey loves! I’m back at it again with another post from my top 5 series. This time I’m giving you the full run down on my top concealers from my makeup collection. Keep in mind I use these concealers to brighten up parts of the face like under eye, the T-zone area and chin. If you don’t already know, doing this gives your face a little bit of dimension—using one shade of foundation on your face can leave you looking flat, especially since no one really has only one skin tone on their face! Here’s the full list of my top concealers:

NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer – $30

This was actually the first concealer that I ever got for the purposes of highlighting parts of the face (and not just to cover up spots). I got into the concealer in 2015 when I first started watching Jackie Aina videos. If you’re a loyal Aunt Jackie follower you know this is like her all time favorite concealer. There’s definitely got to be a reason for her to make such a statement right? Well the concealer lives up to its name by being creamy radiant. It’s matte enough to keep oil at bay but it’s got a natural finish so you still look like a normal human being with a flawless makeup application. The only downside to this product is that I wish there was more! I feel like I get too little concealer for what I pay for. Lately I’ve been reaching for it less often because of this reason. The formula is just so good that I don’t want it to run out so quickly, especially since the price has increased from $28 or so when I first starting buying it!

Tarte Double Duty “Shape Tape” Concealer – $27

I’m not sure why it took me so long to discover this concealer. Maybe it’s because it’s an Ulta exclusive and I try to stay loyal to sephora to rack up those points (#Rougestatus). Anyways this is supposedly the BEST concealer–America’s favorite, whatever that means… Anyway, this is the concealer I use when I want my beat to be snatched. It’s super matte though so normally I ease up on the setting powder so I don’t look too cakey. Also a little usually goes a long way for me because the concealer is so thick. If I’m not wearing NARS creamy radiant, chances are I’m wearing this!

Born This Way Super Coverage Multi Use Sculpting Concealer – $29

This concealer gets automatic points in my book because of how much product comes in the bottle! Seriously, I confused it with the born this way foundation when I first saw it in the store. Initially I purchased the shade “maple” but realized it was a little too light for what I was normally used to for an under eye and highlighting concealer. I swapped that shade for “chestnut” which apparently is a common shade since it was sold out in stores when I initially purchased it and now it is sold out on the Sephora site. Similar to shape tape, this concealer is very thick and extremely full coverage so a little goes a long way.

Colourpop No Filter Concealer – $6

I’m not sure if Colourpop truly qualifies as a drugstore brand. Either way it’s definitely got drugstore prices but at way-better-than-your-average-drugstore-product quality. That’s why I had to put this concealer on the list. The concealer leaves a matte finish but I think it reminds me more so of the NARS creamy radiant concealer less so of shape tape. I use the concealer in “Deep Dark 50”. I chose my shade based on what the website suggested after I had been shade matched with the foundation. Guys. A six dollar concealer that’s actually decent quality. You truly can’t go wrong.

Bonus: (for Eyebrows) Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer – $26

While I don’t use this to highlight parts of my face, this bad boy has been a part of my arsenal for years. I’ve had it for so long that I’m just now realizing that the packaging for this product has changed since I first bought it. It came in a squeeze tube before which made it easier to use for brows. Now it comes in cylindrical tube with a wand applicator which may make it a little tricker to use for the brows. Either way the concealer has consistently been a life saver. With this, I can go four or more weeks without getting my brows done and still look cleaned up.  After filling my brows in, I use a Morphe flat liner brush for a precise application and a Mac brush to blend out

Final Thoughts

Those are the top concealers that made my list! Of course this list isn’t exhaustive as I have many more in my collection. Be on the lookout for my next top 5 series posts on contouring products and setting powders!
