August 2021 Favorites

August came and didn’t even sit down or take its shoes off. And you know from past experience that usually means the rest of the year is going to follow suit. So while we’re here let’s talk about my August favorites. This past month I used a handful of new products that grew on me so I’m excited to share my August 2021 favorites.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

I had heard many great things about this spray—and other Charlotte Tilbury sitting products in particular—before purchasing this spray. And I’m so glad I did. Pro tip: Apply the setting spray after you’ve applied concealer and contour and before you blend it out.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder

I saw a TikTok where a makeup artist applied this powder on a model and her pores all but disappeared. The powder is so good for smoothing out and reducing the visibility of pores. I like to apply it with a fluffy powder brush like this one. As you can imagine this powder works best when paired with the Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray. It is a powder that will probably last a long time, so I suggest going with the travel size to cut on the cost of this product. Either way, it’s worth it.

Pat McGrath PermaGel Eyeliner Pencil

I usually don’t care much about eyeliners or their quality. But for some reason I wanted a taste of the finer things in the eyeliner world to see if there would be a difference from my usual drugstore liners. The verdict? There is definitely a difference.  This pencil glides on so smoothly and the pigment is crisp and sharp. It’s mind-blowing to think about how long I went without this product.

Pat McGrath Divine Powder Blush in Lovestruck

I haven’t yet a Pat McGrath product that I don’t like, and this blush is no different. I was skeptical to take the plunge and purchase it because it is pricy for a blush, but that is typical for Pat McGrath’s luxury products. The good news is the blush shades are gorgeous and the color payoff is intense. Brush on a little for a typical amount of blush coverage, or pack it on for a high fashion, concentrated blush look.

ZitSticka MEGASHADE Sunscreen SPF 50

An SPF for acne-prone skin? I knew I had to try. I love the serum consistency of this SPF because it makes it much easier to blend in. The finish is slightly dewy but not too oily and it does not leave a white cast. I’m almost done with my first bottle and I will definitely be getting a refill of this one.

Melē Skincare Dew the Most SPF 30

You really can never have too much SPF. Because they get used on a daily basis, and multiple times a day, I run through them like crazy. So I’m always looking for more cast-free SPFs that will give me protection and glow. This one from Melē skincare goes above and beyond my wants. It probably has to do with the fact that the SPF doubles as a moisturizer which means you should definitely make sure to apply more than enough. But this SPF has become one of my top 3 SPFs for daily wear.

Fenty Skin Buff Ryder Scrub

I’ve tried a decent amount of body scrubs so I can tell when one is good, and this one from Fenty Skin has emerged as one of the top body scrubs I have.  The only downside is that it feels like a lot goes a little way so I end up using a decent amount of product in one sitting. The good news is you really don’t need to exfoliate more than 1-3 times a week so that’s not a complete dealbreaker.

Forvr Mood Candle Club

You’re probably familiar with Forvr Mood, Jackie Aina’s candle company that recently launched at Sephora. But you may not know that the company has a quarterly candle service where subscribers receive specially made candles every quarter of the year. This past quarter subscribers (including myself) received two candles with amazing scent details that make the subscription worth it. If you don’t believe me just look at the reviews. I’m honestly sad that these candles aren’t. apart of the permanent collection but a girl can dream, right?

Kilian’s Love Don’t Be Shy

I finally got my hands on what many people claim to be Rihanna’s signature scent, at least before the launch of Fenty Perfume. The fragrance is beautiful if you love sweet, warm florals. Even though the fragrance gives off everyday vibes, the price point says otherwise. But if you got it like that, then do you!

That’s it for my August favorites! Have you tried any of the products on my list? What’s been one of your summer beauty favorites?
