Hey loves! It’s so hard to believe how fast the year is flying by. This year was the first year that I took the whole new year’s resolution concept seriously. I set goals for myself and even more importantly, I held myself accountable by checking in on those goals every now and then. It’s truly been a year of growth not only physically, but mentally, financially, and spiritually too. As you may be doing a pulse check on your 2018 goals, check out this list of ways you can tell that you’re making progress!
Hard Work Isn’t Hard Anymore
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.
Starting out with some new goals usually means a new game plan for how to reach them. A lot of times the steps we have to take push us outside of our comfort zone or downright challenge us altogether. If you’ve set a savings goal for yourself, it will definitely be difficult to scale back on all the unnecessary purchases you were making before. But as time progresses, maybe you’ll start to realize that it’s not hard for your to fit in that extra day at the gym or to make that wise savings decision. The hard work necessary to to reach the goals you set for yourself will feel less like hard work and more like habit. Usually this means it’s time to #levelup and challenge yourself with something else!
You Complain Less
There are times in life when instead of complaining, you do something about your complaints.
Maybe this isn’t the case for you but at least for me, setting new goals can come out of frustration with my current situation. Whether it’s because I’m not happy with the way I feel or how I act towards others…shoot maybe I’m not happy with the little amount of sleep I’ve been getting. Those are definitely fair reasons to complain, but eventually you reach the point where enough is enough, you take action to get rid of the cause of your complaining the first place. I don’t have to complain about not getting enough sleep if I’ve been effectively managing my time and productivity during the day so that I can go to bed early. Willingness to take action instead of complain shows an ownership over the course of your own life that is so crucial to reaching those goals to begin with.
You’re OK With The Sacrifices
There is no decision that we can make that doesn’t come with some sort of balance or sacrifice.
Face it, when you’re on the path to success, something has got to give. You simply cannot do it all and if you’re trying to, you’re probably spreading yourself too thin. There are times when I have to set a social life aside to crank out blog posts or edit YouTube videos. In a social media crazed generation, FOMO is especially easy to come by. Yet when you start seeing the fruits of your labor you’ll find assurance in the fact that the sacrifices, though they come at a price, will bring a reward far greater than what you thought you were missing out on.
Others Around You Notice
When you’re making progress, chances are others around you will notice and comment on it as well! Days in the gym and eating healthy will pay off and people can see that. Taking steps to spread kindness and positivity will show in the vibes and aura you give off when around other people. Progress is pretty hard to keep to yourself so let your light shine and take the compliments that come along with it too!
Wrap Up
The year, though it’s going by quickly, isn’t over yet. There is still time to do a quick reset on whatever you want to accomplish before the year’s end. I want to know from you, what does progress look or feel like to you? Leave your thoughts in the comments below and thanks so much for reading!
