Goals for 2021: My Goals for the New Year

For the past two years I’ve used the first #EniGivenSunday of the year to share my goals for the year ahead. I think it’s safe to say it’s become a tradition, so I’m doing the same for this year. We truly have no idea what lies ahead this year with coronavirus still being a very real part of our day to day lives. But as always in life, we adjust and keep moving forward regardless. So here are some of my goals for 2021:

goals for 2021

Travel

  • Travel to a new domestic city. Though I didn’t get to travel out of the country in 2020 like I expected, I was able to take my talents to a new domestic city last year along with some friends. I would really love to travel out of the country this year but since I really can’t say for sure whether I’ll be fully comfortable with international travel, I’m keeping this travel goal domestic.
  • Travel by myself. I really have a strong desire these days to just pick up and go somewhere alone. Quarantine has forced me to become comfortable spending time with myself, and it would be great to treat myself to a change of scenery, especially since I’ve gotten decent at taking my own photos.

Health & Fitness

  • Get my routine health check ups. Because of coronavirus, I didn’t do my yearly visits to the doctors which I usually do in the summer when I have down time from school. There are a couple of things I know I’ve been putting off getting checked, so I am making it one of my goals for 2021 to hit up all my doctors (primary care, OBGYN, dentist, dermatologist, optometrist—whew that’s a lot) and make sure my health is where it should be.
  • Maintain my consistent workout routine. This is probably the first year in recent memory that I’m not starting some new diet or workout routine, and that’s because I’m happy with what I was able to do last year, even without a gym. So one of the goals for 2021 is to just maintain the consistency coming off of last year’s momentum.

Law School & Career

  • Find and do more things that make happy. I think I’ve still more or less been in the realm of taking classes to fulfill my graduation requirements, and now that I’m half way done with law school, it feels like time is really zooming by (no pun intended.) So I really want to make it a goal of mine to hone in on some of the things that I actually want to do and run with them.

Faith

  • More consistently and consciously reject fear. Looking back on 2020, I did a fair amount of doubting and second-guessing of myself and my circumstances. Now more than ever I feel great things on the horizon for my future, and I’m so incredibly grateful to God for that. With that will come an attempt to minimize my hopes with fear—the opposite of faith. This year, I am actively and consciously combatting fear in every area of my life. Consider this my yearlong (and really life long) prayer point.

Relationships

  • Tell the people that I love, that I love them. And not just tell them, but show them. Often. I’m still very aware of the truth that people come into and leave this world unexpectedly. And so I want to be less stingy with words and actions that express love.

Blogging & Social Media

  • Treat EniGivenSunday more like the business it has become. In the words of the singer Vedo, “it’s time to boss up.” I’m so thrilled at and honored by the growth I’ve seen in this blog and my Instagram, and so it’s time for me to approach my work here with a more serious, business-oriented mindset. If anything, it’s been time.
  • Revamp the look of this website. Since I launched my blog in 2018, I’ve kept the same look and theme of the website. For this third year of blogging that I’ll be going into, I’m hoping to update the look and feel of this site to more closely align with where I am in life now (though pink will always be my favorite color!)
