August 2020 Favorites

I’m ending the month of August and staring the month of September with a new tradition: monthly favorites! It’ll basically be another opportunity for me to ramble about the products that I’ve loved in the past month. I’ll try to keep it at products that are new to me or I haven’t already mentioned on my Instagram. Let’s get into some of my August 2020 favorites! (Please note that products with an asterisk are from Black-owned businesses!)

BEAUTY

Rosen Skincare Smoothie Cleanser*

Rosen gifted me this cleanser along with other products and this one has by far been my favorite. It’s been referred to as a smoothie for your face and I feel that 100%. My face is not dry after I use it and it feels like it got all the nourishment it needs from a cleanser.

ZitSticka Hyperfade

I gave an in-depth review of this product in a recent blog post that you should check out. But essentially, these patches are a game-changer for my deepest post-acne marks.

Peach Slices Deep Blemish Microdart

I also talked about these patches in a previous blog post. I’m really fond of these patches because of their effectiveness and affordability.

Dr. Dennis Gross Extra Strength Daily Peel Pads

I had heard a lot of good reviews about these pads and they certainly do not disappoint. I think they are stronger than what I can use every day, so I only use them once a week during my at-home facials.

Kosas Sport Chemistry Serum Deodorant

I’ve really never been picky about the deodorants I use. I’ve used Dove, Old Spice, Nivea, really anything random. But I am sold on this deodorant because of how good it feels, how it leaves no residue, and how effective it is without leaving a strong scent.

The Nailest Co. Press Ons

I don’t have my nails done often, but if there’s anything going on with them, they’re usually press-ons from the nailest co. I was obsessed with the style I linked which you can see on me here. The Nailest Co is also currently having a sale until September 3rd so check it out!

FASHION

Zara 90s Full Length Jeans

I’ve been searching for a pair of wide-leg jeans that would work well on me and I finally found some from Zara that I love. They are the ones I have on in this outfit.

Zara Tulle Top

This purchase was a little outside of my comfort zone for a number of reasons. First, I paid full price, which I rarely do for Zara items, but I had a feeling this top would sell out before it made it to a sale. Second, the style seemed risky and I hadn’t seen anyone on Youtube wear it in a haul. This top was made for me and I can’t wait to share the shots I got in it soon and very soon!

Telfar Small Shopping Bag – Dark Olive*

I was lucky enough to secure a coveted Telfar bag during one of the random drops. I love how simple yet chic the purse is and I also am obsessed with the dark olive green color. It’s perfect to wear any time of the year.

Shop AU Mini Jyoti*

If I could wear this dress over and over and over again, I would. Hands down my favorite dress ever and I am so glad I finally made the purchase because I had been eyeing this dress for a while. Indeed, the dress is pricey. But I have to say it is truly a well-constructed dress. You can see it on me here .

Kes NYC Masks

SIlk masks are fashionable, luxurious, and gentle on the skin. I’ve got a number of face masks from Kes and they are my favorite for this reason. I’d say they are worth the investment and your skin will thank you. I’ve got on this mask here

HOME, BLOGGING, AND LIFE

Sand + Fog Ocean and Sea Salt Scent

I’ve got a candle obsession. I love finding new scents at Marshall’s. I really dislike fall scented candles, so I usually take the end of summer to stock up on anything that’s not cinammon, pumpkin, maple, or apple scented to get me through the colder weather months. This candle does not disappoint.

Sigma 35mm Lens

I made my first big girl lens purchase and I could not be happier with this buy. It’s what I’ve been using to shoot most of my photo content lately. I love the nifty fifty but this does a better job at blurring the background but also capturing more in one shot. I say it’s the perfect lens for lifestyle photos for this reason.

Stop Telling Women to Smile

This book shares stories of street harassment, an experience I’m all too familiar with as a Native New Yorker. I appreciated the stories that resonated with me as well as the stories that offered perspectives I hadn’t really considered.

That’s it for the month of August. See you next month for a round up of my September favorites!
