I’ve been much more consistent with my skin care routine and I feel like I’ve found a sweet spot. That’s why I’m sharing with you all some products that I love. I must admit, when I saw the prices of these items, I cringed. But if we are being honest, there are just some things that you shouldn’t be frugal with. For me, my skin is one of them. Although there are some beauty brands that I’ll probably never think twice about getting because of their prices (ahem La Mer ahem), I can’t always stick to the drug story for everything. Here’s a full list of some of my favorite high end skin care products!
Sunday Riley Tidal Cream
I have been a fan of Sunday Riley for some time now every since Jackie Aina put me on to their Luna Sleeping Oil and the Good Genes Lactic Acid Serum. Because of a few switches in my skin care routine, I no longer use those products (their great but the ingredients aren’t compatible with some other products I use) I found my way to the Tidal Cream which has worked wonders on my skin. Of course it’s a moisturizer so it does what it’s supposed to do for my skin in that area but it also has ingredients that work to brighten. When trying to combat acne scars and dark spots, I like to incorporate brightening products in every part of my routine. I can definitely see the difference in the brightness and evenness of my skin tone now that this cream is in my beauty arsenal.
Kate Somerville Exfolikate Cleanser & Intensive Exfoliating Treatment
You know how brands will include on the directions of a product something like “pair with (insert product name here) for best results”? Yea, they aren’t lying when they say that. I’ve learned that through using Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate cleanser and exfoliant. When I tell you my skin is glowing straight after I wash my face with the cleanser, I mean it! The exfoliant is like a facial with incredibly tiny micro beads that work on your skin in as little as two minutes. I’ve tried to move away from the cleanser because I can acknowledge it’s a bit too pricey for a face wash, but when I see results for my skin…I can’t deny it!
YSL Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow
I’m certainly not at a place where I can casually drop some money on a YSL purse or shoes, so why not start small with their beauty products. This moisturizer make my skin feel so so soft. Because it’s a higher end product that also doubles as a makeup base, I specially use this to prep for a full coverage makeup look. When I’m not wearing makeup, I’ll stick to the Sunday Riley Cream I mentioned above.
Glam Glow Supermud Charcoal Mask
I had heard plenty about this mask before I started using it. It was a staple in my mom’s own skincare routine long before I even considered the necessity of masks in my routine. I particularly love this mask for clearing my pores and skin after I’ve worn makeup. I’ll only use it once a week because it is expensive after all. You feel a tingling and cooling feeling once it goes on which I actually like a lot. It’s like I can feel the mask working it’s magic on my skin! I’ve got it in the regular size and travel size because it comes in handy when travels take a toll on my skin.
Final Thoughts
Let me be very clear: high end or more expensive does not necessarily mean better. There are plenty of drug store products that make my skin look and feel great, including a $2.50 mask I mentioned in my travel favorites post. Sometimes however you may notice a turnaround in your skin when you spend more money on products and treatments. That’s because, like it or not, your skin, just like the rest of your body is an investment. Trust me, I’m not dropping a lot of cash on every skin care product I use, but sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself and your skin to a little skin care splurge! All of these products are from Sephora which I shop at almost exclusively. Why? Because with their point system I rack up rewards and discounts that come in clutch when I need a refill. Find creative ways to indulge in expensive skin care products without paying full price!
